With XWindows Dock you just drag any icon from the desktop onto the dock and voila! I really like Apple products and am always going for the Mac look on my Win 7 64 bit, but the only dock like mac, XWindows Dock 5.
If you are looking for some of the dock listed above, you will need to download those and install the problem. This looks all shit and way too overloaded. OS X motivates to work professional, Microsoft keeps you busy playing with every little bullshit. PC user will obviously never get what it is all about….
Well put April. Sorry Dan.. People can install whatever they like to customize their environment.. Style and functionality are two sides of the OS coin. I use win7, OS X, Linux.. If you like Windows, but want to stick a dock on it, go ahead! I wonder if any mac users are searching for a taskbar?
The sales guy at StarDock is an ass and non responsive. The best for me is Rocketdock and NexusDock. Is there any setting to display dock menu all the time? I Like Rocket Dock. Later Object dock. What about dell dock It is actually quite handy Also for subcategories within the dock so can minimize clutter. Down side…you may need a dell comp to get it. Dell Dock is a rebadged Object Dock from Stardock — missed from this list and one of the first available for Windows.
It's highly customizable and skinnable , and it offers smooth animations, alpha blending, an easy drag-and-drop interface, real-time windows previews, positioning and layering options, the best documentation of all the docks listed, and solid customizations for each item added to the dock. RocketDock also offers taskbar support, so all minimized applications will appear as icons a la Mac Dock. RocketDock is free and has a nice listing of add-ons. Nexus comes the closest to resembling and behaving like the Mac OS X dock.
There are two versions: Free and Ultimate. It offers unlimited docks, subdocks, tabs, and more, extending your desktop far beyond anything the standard Windows 7 interface offers. Nexus both the Free and the Ultimate versions is the only dock that offers system tray support and multiple mouse-over effects. Of the five docks here, Nexus is by far the most powerful one.
