Okay, so one thing I've noticed that seems to differ between the explanations on set-ups I see in several of your links and the information in your post is that I don't see my headphones as a separate device.
My headphones are merged with my speaker. So I cannot select different options for what the speakers and what the headphones do, which is precisely the problem. The interplay between these channels from what the links and google tell me is supposed to be regulated automatically.
The logo for the Realtek audio manager is replaced with a placeholder icon in my start-up menu. Is it possible the program is corrupted? I already reinstalled it once before. That also changed nothing. The problem with most of these solutions is that they are troubleshooting for a situation where headphones won't set up properly. But right now they are working perfectly. Is this supposed to happen? Edit: After reinstalling the Realtek Audio Driver it seems as I thought before that I cannot access that manager at all.
Edit 2: I should note that every time I unplug my headphones and reinsert them, they are detected properly. I am given three options of "what device did you plug in", including 'headphones' and 'speaker out'.
